The Inequalities in Marin
A public forum on the Marin Community Foundation's report "A Portrait of Marin" will be offered at at San Rafael's First Presbyterian Church.
The report, commissioned by the foundation, details disparities in wealth, education, life expectancy and more across the county and offers recommendations — some of which have been controversial — for addressing those disparities. The full report is available at www.marincf.org/portrait.
Speakers from the foundation will present highlights of the report and invite questions from the audience. The forum is sponsored by First Presbyterian and the Marin Interfaith Council.
For information, call the church at 456-6760.

Occupy Marin stands vigil against foreclosuresJoin Marinites who are fed up with these illegal robo-signed foreclosures

For the past two months, Occupy Marin has been holding vigil on the steps of San Rafael City Hall where every day foreclosed homes are auctioned off.

Thursday, March 15, 9:30 - 10:30 AM
Stop The Illegal Foreclosures
Auctions of Marin homes in foreclosure take place on the steps of the San Rafael City Hall each morning at 9:30. We will demonstrate to bring attention to the struggles of homeowners fighting the predatory practices of Wall Street banks and in many cases the illegal sale of their homes. We will assemble at 9:30 AM at 1400 Fifth. When the auctions end at 10:30 AM , participants will march to Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America to demand help for underwater mortgagees and to hold banks accountable for the mortgage crisis.

Stop by the information table where we host an "Occupy Cafe". It is always a fun and informative oppurtunity to chat or ask questions you may have about the Occupy wall Street movement. Maybe you might want to host an item of information to bring to the information table. We welcome your input. Many of the Occupy Marin participants will be there. If you have never been to an "Occupy Cafe", it's both fun and informative! If you are one of the many in Marin affected by the forclosure crises, there are folks who would like to help. Your experience is valuable and we would love for you to share it with us.
